Human Rights and Ethical Trading Policy

La Gente complies with the following ethical trading policy and actively encourages compliance by its suppliers.

Freedom of the Person

 
  • Employees are free to leave their employer after reasonable notice
  • Employees have the right to join legally recognised labour unions

Health and Safety in the Workplace

 
  • Employees have the right to a healthy and safe work environment
  • Workers shall receive appropriate health and safety training

Fair Remuneration

 
  • Staff shall receive remuneration reasonable and comparable to that offered
  • Working hours shall be reasonable and not place undue demands upon the employee
  • Employees will be provided with clear written information regarding their employment conditions in respect of their hours, wages and employment conditions
  • Deductions from wages as a disciplinary measure shall not be permitted, nor shall any deductions from wages not provided for by national law be permitted without the expressed permission from the worker concerned.  All disciplinary measures should be recorded.

  • There shall be no discrimination in hiring, compensation, access to training, promotion, termination or retirement based on race, religion, disability, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, age, union membership or political affiliation.
